As of now (November 15th, 2019), there are two types of CTXCs circulating in the market: ERC20 and Cortex MainNet tokens. This is because Cortex only launched MainNet in late June 2019 and many exchanges are still in the process of token swaps. Currently the three exchanges that have completed the token swap process and circulate Cortex MainNet tokens are: OKEX, BitForex and BitAsset. All other exchanges are still circulating ERC20 CTXCs, although major exchanges such as Huobi will very soon complete the token swap process for its users.
What does this mean for you?
Please DO NOT send your ERC20 tokens to a MainNet exchanges and vice versa! If you already did, figure out first whether you sent to exchanges or from exchanges. If you have accidentally sent MainNet tokens to an ERC20 exchange or ERC20 tokens to a MainNet exchange, please contact the exchange. If you sent ERC20 tokens from an ERC20 exchange to your MainNet wallet address, you will not see it in your MainNet wallet (you will need to conduct a manual token swap yourself). When in doubt, always reach out to us!
If your tokens are on a ERC20 exchange, you can either (1) wait for the exchange to complete the token swap process for you. (2) manually carry out the token swap process yourself following this guide: https://medium.com/cortexlabs/cortex-mainnet-token-swap-announcement-c06769c40663 (Please read very carefully to avoid loss of assets)
The bottom line is you always need to (1) keep your private keys and recovery phrases safe (2) before any transactions, be clear which type of exchanges/wallets you are sending to/from (ERC20 or MainNet). Again, when in doubt, always reach out to us!
